The Zimbabwe Embassy in Canberra will be conducting a Diaspora Engagement and Consular outreach visit to Western Australia from 7 to 11 September 2026.

Services Available

During this visit, the Embassy will be facilitating applications for:

  • Passports
  • Birth Certificates

Please note that National Identity Documents (IDs) will not be processed during this outreach.

Important Information for Applicants Aged 16+

Zimbabwean citizens who have turned 16 but do not have a National ID and wish to apply for a passport may do so using their expired passport, together with a exemption form on the link below.

Important Information for children born in Australia

Children of Zimbabwe citizens born in Australia can use their Australian birth certificate to apply for the Zimbabwean birth certificate and passport on the day.

Requirements for Birth Certificate Application:

  • Child’s Foreign Birth Certificate
  • Father’s Zimbabwean ID, Birth Certificate and Passport
  • Mother’s Zimbabwean ID, Birth Certificate and Passport
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Complete and bring the attached authorisation letter to your appointment for stamping. Authorised person should have the same surname as the applicant
  • Payment: AU$50.00 per application in Cash (Australian Currency Only)

Important Information for all other Applicants

1. If you lost your I.D you are required to submit a police report detailing that you lost it.

2. Passport photos for Zimbabwe passports are different from the standard passport photos in Australia. You’ll have to notify the camera person that the shoulders have to be in the frame. Take your old passport as an example. Take note of the following:

  • Two (2) current coloured passport photographs (size: 3.5cm x 5cm) –
  • Wear a dark top/shirt on a white background and it must be taken from the chest up.
  • No polo necks or anything that covers the neck.
  • No jewellery
  • No head gear or tinted hair.
  • Ears should be visible.
  • Avoid heavy makeup and artificial eyelashes.

3. You have to nominate someone to submit and collect your passport and birth certificate in Zimbabwe. The person has to share the same surname with the applicant. The relevant authorization forms are appended on the links below. If you can’t get someone with the same surname as the applicant, an affidavit must be attached with the application stating the reasons why you had to send a ‘non-relative’ has to do it on your behalf instead.

Please Note

Bring all relevant forms and original documents together with copies with you on the day of your appointment, do not email them to ZAWA. Documents/Forms MUST not be certified; this will be done by the embassy staff. Documents to bring are listed below:

  • Original Zimbabwe Passport or Police Report for Lost/Stolen Passport
  • Original Zimbabwe Birth Certificate
  • Original Zimbabwe National Identity Card
  • Copy of Australian visa or Australian Passport/Citizenship Certificate
  • Original Zimbabwean Marriage Certificate (for Married Women)

Payment: AU$80.00 per application in Cash (Australian Currency Only)
